There is soft laughter,
but every word that falls
off your tongue seems to
hold no weight
The sun hangs heavy in the sky
and as I fight to look through
the rays, I notice that you're
not looking at me anymore,
but off into the distant sunset
Absentmindedly, I continue to live -
I run through the light rain with
my jacket over my head,
but my eyes still drift to my feet
and the puddles I splash through
I crumple my tests into my backpack
and idly scribble down
the answers to calculus problems
while gazing out the window
at the clouds passing by
I struggle to find the words
to tell you what's missing
from my life because
even I just don
